1. Map the current stack
List systems, owners, contracts, data and integrations. Mark which processes would stop if each system disappeared.
2. Check the exit
Test an export and a restore, inspect API conditions, and establish whether another provider could support the deployment.
3. Choose a realistic next step
Keep software that serves you well. Pilot a replacement where the benefit outweighs migration and operating costs.
4. Plan for the day after migration
Assign responsibility for updates, monitoring, backups, recovery and user support. An open licence does not operate the system for you.
