Where it fits
Teams willing to pilot multitrack editing, captions, speech enhancement and background removal on copies of real short-form video projects while retaining their current delivery tools.
Trade-offs and limitations
Reviewed against v0.2.7 (13 October 2026). This is beta software, not a claim of production readiness. The v0.2.7 Windows release warns that blur/glow exports can stall; Windows ARM builds are paused and unsigned builds need an operating-system trust review. The available Intel Mac build requires macOS 13.4. Desktop, Android and iOS downloadable builds do not establish platform or feature parity: validate the exact build and device. Requested model/update downloads need separate network, storage and model-licence checks.
Deployment and technology
Local desktop video editor with optional local AI workflows and separately downloaded models; select a supported, version-specific operating-system build. Local desktop deployment requires supported devices, managed updates and tested file backups. Consult the official installation guide for the current version.
Portability and integration
| API | A JSON-RPC interface needs validation against the installed release. Main-branch and release documentation differ; this review does not establish that an MCP integration ships in v0.2.7. |
|---|---|
| Authentication | Local operating-system access; validate the selected build’s permissions and network behaviour |
| Data export | Keep editable originals and media; verify project reopen, video/audio/caption exports and recipient acceptance for the exact release |
Migration considerations
Preserve editable CapCut/Adobe originals and referenced media. Rebuild a representative video with audio and captions; save, close, reopen and export it. Check codecs, timing, colour and final output with the recipient. Retain the working baseline until accepted, and verify input/output rights plus each optional model licence.
Security and ongoing costs
Budget for infrastructure, implementation, monitoring, patching, backups, restore tests and user support. Check the supported release and current advisories with the project. An open licence is not a security guarantee.
Freedom score and exit difficulty
A complete, evidence-backed assessment of all 15 criteria is required before publishing a score. Exit difficulty depends on your customisations, data model, integrations and operating documentation. This profile does not claim a hands-on benchmark or a complete security assessment.
